Occupational Health and Safety Services

StateCover provides its members with various OHS services to assist in accident prevention and minimisation of OHS related risks.

OHS Self Audit

All members are provided with an OHS Self Audit tool tailored for local government and recognised by RAB QSA as equivalent to AS/NZ 4801 for completion annually, to assist with continuous improvements of Councils' OHS Management system. This program is based on the Risk Management approach as adopted in current legislation.

The OHS Audit program is an internet based, self administered questionnaire designed to assist Councils achieve the following objectives:

  • To obtain legislative compliance with OHS Law and Regulations
  • To Assist with establishment and / or upgrading of existing OHS Management Systems
  • To allow Council to benchmark their current OHS performance
  • To allow Council to progressively upgrade their OHS performance to 'best practice'

For those Councils that already have an OHS Management System in place the audit may be used as a self checking tool. For Councils that have a less well developed OHS Management System that audit may be used to guide and assist improvements.

Completion of the audit with satisfactory independent verification qualifies council for a financial incentive payment for member Councils.

The 2010 OHS Audit results have been sent to each individual Council. Please contact StateCover at ohs@statecover.com.au if you have not yet received your results. Please click “here" for the StateCover 2010 OHS Audit Average.
